Every young person deserves a real chance at stability, healing, and hope.

That belief is why Path2Places exists. We're building a home to provide transitional housing and wraparound support for youth in need of placement, offering structure, care, and compassion when it's needed most. It's a haven, a second chance, and a promise that no young person must face uncertainty alone. We're ready to open our doors. Your support is what gets us there.

About Us

Path2Places is a nonprofit working to open its first transitional home for youth in the foster care system, based in Dallas, Texas, and Los Angeles, California. Our homes are designed to give young people the safe and supportive environment they need to become confident, independent adults, supported by a growing network of child development professionals, social workers, educators, mentors, and caregivers.

Mission & Values

Our mission is to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home for youth awaiting permanent placement, helping them build confidence, learn essential life skills, and take meaningful steps toward independence. We exist to bridge the gap between where they are and where they’re meant to be emotionally, physically, and mentally so they can step into adulthood with hope, resilience, and support.

How We Help

Path2Places will provide temporary housing for youth ages 12–17 in the foster care system, a stable place to stay while their family works toward reunification or their next placement is determined. Each stay includes daily supervision, school support, and access to counseling and case management for as long as needed while a young person's case is resolved.

For youth who reach 18 without a family to return to, we help with college readiness, life skills, job placement, and connections to further aging-out resources so no one leaves without a plan.

Meet the Founder

Updatedheadshot-brows_edited.jpg

My name is Cheri Thomas, and founding Path2Places is the most powerful thing I've ever done. This nonprofit was born from a promise I made during one of the most defining chapters of my life, a chapter filled with both heartbreak and clarity. For years, I struggled with fertility issues. Before moving forward with a life-changing procedure, I made a vow: if I couldn't bring life into the world biologically, I would still give life through love, presence, and purpose.

I chose to pour myself into children who are often overlooked, mistreated, and forgotten. That promise became Path2Places. My family's story is also rooted in the foster care system. As a child, my mother was placed with a kind and nurturing foster family who supported her until she aged out. Her experience left a legacy I now carry forward with pride and purpose.

Path2Places is more than a transitional home. It's a refuge, a place where young people can feel safe, reclaim their identity, and be reminded of their worth. If you're reading this and wondering if I'll care for your child, I will. Wholeheartedly.

We're in the final stretch of opening our doors, and every step forward brings us closer to welcoming our first young person home. This work isn't just something I do. It's who I am.
